MAES Paris reveals it upcycled leather collection
MAES Paris presents its first exclusive creations
crafted in Francefrom exceptional deadstock leather
Partnering with leaders of circular fashion like Adapta Paris and with some of the most renowned European tanneries, MAES Paris has decided to work with exceptional deadstock leather and give it a more durable and sustainable fate.
In the hands of its amazingly-skilled French artisans, this deadstock leather is turned into limited series of amazing leather goods, in line with MAES Paris’ commitment for a more sustainable ‘Haute Maroquinerie’.
Considering unused resources
Vegan innovation is at the core of MAES Paris' DNA. But the commitment of the brand on sustainability has also led it to consider the issue of circularity.
5% to 20%* of the materials produced for luxury fashion end up in dead stocks because of over-purchasing, discontinued collections or products cancelled before even being launched...
In the end some exceptional leather is unused and ends up in landfills or even destroyed. And at the same time new leather is being produced every day, with a significant impact on the environment.
MAES Paris refuses to see such noble material wasted, while it is simply waiting in some brands' or tanneries' warehouse.
Creative circularity
By definition, the leather used by MAES Paris is only available in very limited quantity.
Only exclusive series of a few units, sometimes even just a unique piece, are crafted, depending on the quantity of leather available. In any case the production of new leather is never required.
Available in many different finishes and colours, this upcycled leather is an incredible source of creative inspiration for MAES Paris to offer circular, elegant and spirited creations.
