MAES Paris reveals its third innovative vegan material
After cactus and mycelium,
MAES Paris reveals a third innovative vegan material
for its sustainable 'Haute Maroquinerie':
The M_MAT_biofabbrica
Partnering with Modern Meadow, an American startup specialized in bio-innovation, and Limonta, an Italian leader in textile manufacturing for the luxury industry, MAES Paris has developed the M_MAT_Biofabbrica, a new innovative vegan material which combines style, durability and a low impact on the environment.
Durable elegance
The M_MAT_biofabbrica activates our senses, with a satin fine grain finish that mimics beautifully that of the most exquisite leathers.
As for all other materials selected by MAES Paris, the M_MAT_Biofabbrica meets precise and rigorous standards. Its physical properties (resistance to traction, to flexion, to abrasion, etc.) have been tested by an independent laboratory and the results show a very high level of performance, similar to that of the best leathers.
10x-lower carbon footprint
Made from bio-based proteins, polymers and microfiber fabric, the M_MAT_biofabbrica allows to disregard the negative impact of the livestock industry and to forget about all the questions on cruelty to animals.
Thanks to its innovative technology, this biomaterial has an impact significantly lower than traditional chrome-tanned leather, reducing by 91% Greenhouse Gas emissions, by 83% the quantity of water required, and by 75% the consumption of non-renewable energy (source: Modern Meadow).
Modern Meadow's Bio-AlloyTM technology enables the M_MAT_biofabbrica to offer mechanical properties and scope of applications very close to those of traditional leather, but with a much better impact on the environment. This feature adds a new and vast playground for future creations of MAES Paris.
Available in black only at launch, the M_MAT_biofabbrica will be declined in new colours in future collections, alongside the other innovative vegan materials already selected.
